Aims of Post 16

Students studying at Harris East Dulwich Post 16 will be expected to uphold the aims of the two academies that share this provision - Harris Girls' Academy East Dulwich and Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich.

Abilities and aspirations

Every student will be supported onto and through a course of study appropriate to her or his abilities, aspirations and needs.

A unique curriculum will be available to each student, enabling her or him to gain a broad and diverse educational experience and to maximise her or his accreditation opportunities in order to support her/him successfully into higher or further education and the professional workplace.

High expectations

High expectations will be set for all students with aspirational targets which enable them to achieve their full potential.

Every student will be expected to play a full and active part in the Post 16 provision and in the partner academies and to contribute to the leadership of each.

Specialisms

The academies’ specialisms of Sport, Enterprise and Health Sciences will be embedded and developed throughout Post 16 life to improve academic excellence and raise standards.

Harris East Dulwich Post 16 will provide information, advice and guidance to students which inspires them and prepares them for life after school, with regard to university entry or professional employment.

Training and employment

All students will be encouraged to seriously consider further training and employment and to support them in pursuing these.

Students will be prepared for the workplace of the 21st century through our business and enterprise approach to Post 16 provision.

Work ethic

We will promote and expect a high standard of personal demeanour and work ethic and celebrate when individuals demonstrate achievements in this regard.

Students will be expected to share in the leadership of the Post 16 provision and to demonstrate leadership capacity within and across both academies.

Global citizens

Students will be supported in becoming local and global citizens with an understanding of the communities and of the world in which they live and their responsibility to contribute to both in a positive manner.

Students will be afforded the trust and independence to prepare them for their life beyond school, enabling them to develop the skills and attributes necessary to flourish in a university or work environment and in society as a whole.
