Conservative leader David Cameron was among the guests who applauded student Chisara Agor when she performed last month at a special dinner hosted by Lord Harris.
Chisara, Year 11, performed her monologue, 'Art' – a piece inspired by the controversy surrounding modern artists such as Damien Hirst.
Lord Harris first heard Chisara recite 'Art' at the HGAED Awards Ceremony in 2009, and asked her to come to a special dinner he hosted in February. Mayor of London, Boris Johnson was also amongst the guests.
‘I was very nervous,’ says Chisara. ‘The worst thing was that it was so personal - you could see everyone’s faces and emotions. Basically, you would be able to tell if they didn't like it, but they did!
'Once I got started, I was off and it felt really good to be up there. I was having fun and it was just like performing. That was the bit I enjoyed the most: speaking and then coming off the stage to applause and smiles, knowing that all my hard work had paid off.’
